Howdy I am Mitchell Czerwinski and I am an American studying my masters in Climate Change Policy here in Amsterdam at the VU. I love the outdoors and being deep in nature and have been in over 40 national parks and national forests in America. I would like to pursue a career within climate change policy so I could protect the nature that I fell in love with. I believe that everyone should have access to clean air, water, and a sustainable future.
The big reason why I personally care about sustainability is that I want our future kids to enjoy the wonders of nature the way I had the pleasure to. A big aspect of camping is “leave no trace” in which you should leave your campsite better than how you found it and I believe this aspect should be applied to our earth.
The SFSA is an interdisciplinary organization that accepts anyone who is interested in sustainability. One of our strengths is that we have students from a wide range of topics who bring their own ideas to the organization. It is a guarantee that if you join SFSA that you will learn more about sustainability.

Hi, I’m Alice! I am a 19 years old political science student at UvA. I lived in France my whole life and moved to Amsterdam for my studies. Apart from uni, I really enjoy cooking and writing a little sometimes. I love going camping, and also playing card games.
I am and have been animated by climate change for many years. Because it is intertwined with all of the other issues we face today, I think we should not only care but also be concerned about it. Striving for sustainability allows us to better protect nature and humans, and reduce the use of resources while distributing them more fairly. So, I care about sustainability and hope to keep informing and spreading awareness about what we can do.
Although I do not believe we should put the responsibility of climate change on individuals, I do think there are ways to make changes personally, to raise awareness and to try your best to make a positive impact on our scale. I think SFSA can bring this sense of empowerment and introduce you to wonderful people along the way. It certainly did for me 🙂

My name is Tran Minh Ngoc Nguyen and my friends call me Nora. I’m a 20-year-old from Vietnam and am currently doing my Bachelor in Econometrics at University of Amsterdam. I have never lived abroad so moving to Amsterdam has been an eye-opening journey for me, in which I got to know myself better and got to meet so many amazing people. In my freetime I like to read with my Kindle (though I do still love physical books) and go on TikTok to see what the for you page has instored for me.
In mankind’s history, we have never been as powerful and vulnerable at the same time. Technology can bring us everything we need and things we haven’t even realised we needed, but it has inevitably negative effects on the environment. If we stand by and do nothing as climate change happens, we would risk loosing the comfortable living environment that we enjoy now.
I would totally encourage them to join because SFSA is an amazing organisation! Not only are we contributing to a big cause – spreading awareness about sustainability and environmental issues, but we can also help our members grow as individuals, with many different activities and events all year round.

Hello everyone! I’m Gerica, I’m 24yo and I moved from the south of Italy to Amsterdam to study Climate Change Policy! Beach lover, skater for fun and passionate about everything that happens in the nature!
It is becoming always more obvious that our planet is dying and we are the cause of it. It’s been a few years now that I decided I don’t want to be part of this, I don’t want to be the cause of the destruction of what I love most. A small action can really make the difference and I’m happy to say that I’m making the difference!
